In my newsletter last week (sign up here) I included a link to my updated list of up and coming Open Competitions for artists. One of the competition deadlines coming up soon is for the John Ruskin Prize, which is in it’s 8th year. The top prize is £3000 and all of the selected works will be exhibited in January at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London.
The John Ruskin Prize website contains a lot of background information to support the theme of the prize, which this year is ‘Patience in Looking, Truth in Making’. I’d suggest that anyone thinking about entering work should read and understand the introduction text about the life, work and ideas of John Ruskin first. You’ll find the ‘Introduction to the Theme’ at the bottom of this page.
Even if you aren’t planning to enter the competition, you might still find their introduction to John Ruskin of interest.
