What are you working on this week?

I sent an email out to the brilliant Studio Fridays artists the other day, asking them to send me something they’ve been working on this week. Here’s what they sent in ……

Alice Gavin-Atashkar: ‘I’m exploring rest and what that means for me. Daily walks and capturing spring-shapes in vibrant tones.’

Melissa Harris: ‘Today I’m firing more small sculptural bases in my kiln. I’m also working on my etched lino prints.’

Ayse McGowan: ‘I’m currently looking at waterlillies through the chaos of branches, leaves and weeds. The layers of light shapes and colour produce a wonderful cacophonous scene and I’m trying to lead the viewer through this image.’

Dawn Limbert: ‘I’m working on some local scenes using a similar palette to Constable’s painting sketches.’ Dawn features in the current edition of Pastel Journal.

Margaret Crutchley: ‘I’ve been inspired by the glorious colour of the two rape fields and felt that the glow would be best captured in watercolour. I currently have paintings on show at the Hertford Open, which is on until 10 May.’

Sara Gregory: ‘I decided to revisit this image that was taken during a photo session I did a while back. It had stayed in my mind so I felt it just had to be painted!’

Raina Goran: ‘I have finished this collage painting of a woman outside a temple in Vietnam. It is part of a series of work inspired by my recent travels to Asia. I’m currently exhibiting at the RWS gallery in Whitcomb Street for their Small Works exhibition which is on until May 23rd.’

Helen Robinson: ‘This painting was inspired by a beautiful, but eerie scene in Scotland – a bright line of light clearly defined the horizon, with the sea mist partly obscuring the distant mountains. Three of my paintings are currently being shown at the Hertford Art Society Exhibition which finishes on the May 11th. ‘

Hilary Vernon-Smith: ‘I’m making collages exploring fashion images of women and considering using some of the images to make an animation.’

Elise Mendelle: ‘I’ve started a new painting in my series of works about stylish, confident and empowering women’

Carolione Matthews: ‘I’m working on a series of pastel paintings about Spring – Fresh greens, fleeting bluebells and the all important light filtering through the branches.’
