Huge congratulations to Studio Fridays mentee Elise Mendelle, who has been working SO hard recently! After the success of her solo show at Henarch Galleries only a couple of weeks ago, she was back in East London for the Other Art Fair. Taking part in the Other Art Fair involves four full on days of talking to visitors, and therefore not for the faint hearted. Elise definitely had everything in hand and her work looked great.
The majority of works on show by the 170 artists taking part were large, instantly eye catching pieces (#instantism). I didn’t get to see all the stands, (I popped in on the Friday night when it was very busy and buzzing), but here are a few of the artists whose work I did see that caught my eye.
Jen Gash – Past winner of Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year.
Andrew Hunt – Imagined scenes. Love the caravan!
Dawn Fincham – Brightly coloured, stylised paintings on photographs.
Luke Maund – Bursts of glossy colour combinations to give your home a modernist WOW.
Daniel Freytag – Birdseye views of remembered journeys.
Kayleigh Young – Natural looking abstracts staining canvases with acrylic washes.
