I’m currently putting together some drawing and painting activities for classes next week, inspired by the Francis Bacon triptych portraits currently on show at the National Portrait Gallery (ends 19/1/25).
I’ve included some photographs from the exhibition, above and below, but first, here are a few links to Bacon and Soho things I’ve enjoyed watching in the past few days:
- A good, honest conversation with Bacon on the Southbank Show. Scroll down to the bottom of this page where you will find the film in six parts. Don’t be put off by the strange editing at the start!
- A nice three minute documentary about the Colony Rooms, where Bacon was paid £10 a week to bring in his friends (and have free drinks).
- And for a bit more of Soho, over to Suggs.
- And finally, something nice to know: Jack Vettriano selected Bacon’s ‘Triptych May-June’ for his luxury item on Desert Island Discs.
